Swimming Pool Filter Reviews

A swimming pool filter is basically a device used for removing impurities from the pool’s water. The filter is important in any swimming pool to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the water.

Quite a number of people are confused with what kind of filter to buy for their swimming pool. The solution to this dilemma is not easy. However, a person will be able to choose the right filter as long as he understands the difference of each.

There are three main kinds of pool filters – the diatomaceous earth, sand and cartridge filters.

In truth, any of these three filters would do wonders for your swimming pool. However, each filter has its own pros and cons, and some are listed below.

Diatomaceous earth – among all kinds of filters, this one is known to be the best polisher of water. The minute diatoms in this filter can remove debris that is the size of 5 microns from the water.

This filter needs to be backwashed every now and then, particularly when the pressure in the filter increases. The old diatomaceous earth will be washed out and will be replaced by new earth.

Sand filters – these filters are simple filters that utilize layers of sand the pool pumps through. The filthy water enters one side of the filter and then comes out clean on the opposite side.

Just like the diatomaceous earth filter, the sand filter will eventually have to be unplugged and backwashed to remove any form of debris on a regular basis.

Cartridge filters – the cartridge filter is practically the easiest kind to use and understand. It can be compared to a car’s oil filter.

The process of filtering is very basic – the dirty water enters, goes through the filter, removes any dirt or debris and returns to the pool. The only downside of cartridge filters is that the filter should be replaced at least every two weeks.

So which of the three is the best pool filter? It all comes down to what you want.

If you find low maintenance important, then you might like the cartridge filter.

If you want your filter to last for years, sand filters are perfect and reliable.

Meanwhile, for those who would want the cleanest pool water, diatomaceous earth filter is the one to have. In choosing the swimming pool filter that you want, you must consider your standards first before you buy.
